Virica is pioneering a new process intensification technique, Viral Sensitizers (VSE™), media additives that increase the manufacturing efficiency of viral medicines at scale. VSEs are small molecules with various chemistries, which transiently down-regulate anti-viral responses from manufacturing host cells to viruses. VSEs are added into the upstream process around the time of infection/transfection/transduction to improve the production of viral vectors in cells. Since each manufacturing platform triggers unique sets of anti-viral pathways, different VSE molecules can be selected and custom formulated in a platform-specific manner.
VSE has demonstrated robust improvement in viral yields and transduction efficiency across multiple manufacturing platforms.
